LG Elections: Don’t Vote Party Encouraging Kidnappers, Destroying Civil Servants – SOKAPU Advises Voters

The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), has advised the people of Kaduna State to mobilize themselves and come out en mass to vote in today’s (Saturday) election for credible candidates of their choice.

The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission has earlier declared that election would not take place in Brinin Gwari, Zangon Kataf, Kajuru and Chikun local government areas due to insecurity challenges but has given the go ahead for election into the 19 LGAs today, Saturday.

SOKAPU President, Comrade Jonathan Asake, in a statement charged the electorates that, “After you have voted, don’t leave, stay and protect your votes and ensure that they are counted and recorded correctly.”

He appealed to the electorates to remember that even though they are voting for individuals, they represent their political parties, saying that a vote for any individual is a vote for their political party, advising that they should not vote for a party that manipulates their diversity to cause disunity.

The SOKAPU President added, “Don’t vote for a party that abandoned our people and encouraged insecurity, kidnappings and collection of ransom, massacre of our people, displacement of our people into IDP camps, destruction of our farmlands, and occupation of our homelands.”

He further added, “Don’t vote for that party that didn’t create chiefdoms for our people but instead, is eager to balkanised them, downgrade our chiefs, change the names of our Chiefdoms without our consent, and humiliated our traditional rulers, religious leaders, elders and leaders.

“Don’t vote for a party that unduly and mercilessly sacked civil servants and teachers without paying them their disengagement benefits.

“Don’t vote for the party that takes pleasure in jailing anyone opposed to their draconian style of governance.

“Don’t vote for a party that promotes disobedience to the rule of law,
don’t vote for a party that is enslaving future generations by recklessly taking loans without any meaningful amenities or infrastructural development in our communities.”

He stated that the electorates should vote for candidates that would protect their integrity, Kaduna State and their future by voting rightly and wisely for the overall peace, unity and development of the State.
