OP-ED: Open Letter To Governor Mai Mala Buni, The Chairman, APC National Caretaker Committee, By Yahaya Goje

Dear Sir,

I am an aspirant vying for the member seat representing Lere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Our great party the All Progressives Congress (APC) stands for peace, justice and equity. But, I am deeply worried by recent developments, which if not immediately addressed, will put our party out of favour.

In view of that, I will appeal for a close watch on the conduct of the sales of forms for Lere Federal Constituency primaries ahead of the August 14 by election. Such watch should be in ensuring the availability of the forms to all interested aspirants for the conduct of a successful transparent primaries election.

The news of the party elections for the seat of House of Representatives came out on Friday (09th July, 2021) instead of a good number of days to allow for adequate preparations.

I was at the party office on Friday, and was told there were no forms available and there were also no forms on Saturday too (10TH July, 2021). No one was available to sell the forms, making me to have fears over the availability of the forms for sale on Monday, which is the closing date. As at today, we had information that only one Mr. Munnir Ahmed has purchased the form how and why

A lot of reactions may follow from party faithful when enclosed into tight conditions like the case of Zaria elections for Kaduna State House of Assembly where APC lost to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of reactions from party faithful aggrieved over the fielding of the wrong candidate.

I therefore, write to inform and complain that there is no availability of forms at the party's national office after a short window on the time table. Confidently I pray for the availability of the forms on Monday.

We as a party have to be organized and transparent against 2023 general elections. Let peace, justice and equity be administered as a sign of the preparations for the 2023 general elections.
