My Candidacy Is As A Result Of Evidence Based selfless And Humanitarian Services - Yahaya Goje

In this interview with Kaduna Political Affairs, Hon. Yahaya Goje, an aspirant for the Lere Federal Constituency by-election, stated that his candidacy is as a result of many years of evidence based selfless and humanitarian Services. He added that he grew up with the passion to change things and make life better for those around him. He advised the youth to rally around each other to save their constituencies from poor representation.

KPA: Let's start by asking this question, who is Yahaya Goje?

Yahaya Goje: I am a young active citizen, who grew up with the passion to change things and make life better for those around him as a way of service. My selfless service over the years has brought me in contact with Government and governance issues both at the state and federal levels. I started my career as a volunteer in various civil society and humanitarian organizations. I am also engaged in projects that are driven by innovations towards supporting and strengthening governance. Junior Chambers international nurtured me to be amongst the network of world leading active citizens. I am also a peace advocate and certified ambassador of the United Nations institute of peace.

KPA: What motivated you to go into politics?

Yahaya Goje: My Candidacy is as a result of many years of evidence based selfless and humanitarian Service, which i inherited from my late Dad. This i have been doing even without holding an elective position by constantly consulting and amplifying the local needs of my people through engaging Government at the local, state and federal levels over the years. It is this passion that inspired me to join politics and even contest in 2019 and the current By-election.
I came to an understanding that the right people to do politics are not involved. My constituency has suffered from misrepresentation since the turn of the current dispensation in 1999. They are in need of quality and purposeful representation, that will put their security and welfare first.
However, my expertise as a trade and investment expert to support the private sector to function perfectly as it protects the economy of my country Nigeria.

KPA: Tell us about your Dad

Yahaya Goje: He was an educationist, a man of the people, even though well principled. We worked closely when he was alive. That is where i learnt the virtues of honesty, integrity and compassion.

KPA: We've learnt that you are among the aspirants for the forthcoming Lere Federal constituency bye-election. But before we get to that, have you contested or occupied a Political office in the past?

Yahaya Goje: I contested under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 2019, where I, together with some like-minds, built the party from the scratch in my constituency and we were able to gain reasonable amount of votes. My emergence gave a new face to the progressive political class. I had to go shopping for those good and influential people that are in touch with the grassroot that have not been engaged in politics.

KPA: That's good. You are currently under the platform of the All Progressives Congress. I'm sure our Readers would want to know why you decamped from SDP to APC?

Yahaya Goje: The people deserve the right approach to politics with the best platform available that can introduce it. Considering the realities, my alignment to the APC is purely based on principles and ideology, many of which is captured in its manifesto. Even though the SDP has some of this  ideologies, they presently lack the structure to actualize it.

KPA: What message do you have for the youth in Lere, kaduna and the country at large?

Yahaya Goje: Lere local government is in need of active citizens that are properly mentored and exposed to deliver and give back meaningfully to their society. It is time to rally around each other to save our constituency from poor representation.
Naturally, the present leaders will face out, so the youth have to be prepared to take our father's land to the promised land. As active citizens we should be building development model and empires for our community.

KPA: Who are the kaduna Politicians that you look up to?

Yahaya Goje: I have been active around the corridors of powers and politics for up to 18 years without any political appointment just to understand and prepare to come on the stage of active politics in order to be able to make the right footprint and bring about good results, which are the legacies I want to leave behind. Served as private assistants to some elders at Arewa Consultative Forum and KADCCIMA. So, I have many mentors who have been guiding me. I call on the youth to also seek for mentors and learn from them.

KPA: Finally, what do you have to say to the people of Lere federal constituency and of course your Political party, the APC, regarding the forthcoming bye-election?

Yahaya Goje: I will be mobilising and engaging everyone, because all hands must be on deck in the development of our Lere Federal Constituency. This will happen across the farmers groups for a more effective agriculture; across the students unions like leloglyf, and others; civil societies and NGOs for a more impact driven governance; security agencies like the Joint Task Force (JTF); and mobilisation will also happen accross the political class.

KPA: Ok. Thank you very much for your time. We wish you the very best in your endeavors.
