Alleged Fake Medical Director Arraigned before the Chief Magistrate Court Kaduna.

Saidu Ahmed Ya’u was arraigned before the magistrate court today for Certificate Forgery and Impersonation. He is to be remanded at the State Correctional Facility, Ibrahim Taiwo Road for further mention.
From the First Information Report (FIR), Saidu Ahmed Ya’u is a 45 years old Medical Director, at Jibrin Maigwari Memorial Hospital Birnin Gwari Kaduna. He has been working as a medical doctor for more than 11 years and has also been working with the Kaduna State Ministry of Health.
A petition alleging that Saidu is a fake doctor working with fake certificates was written to Nasir El-Rufai. This immediately prompted the constitution of a committee by the Kaduna State Ministry of Health to investigate the matter.
The committee reported that Saidu Ahmed Ya’u is indeed a fake doctor and had forged the certificates he presented to secure employment with the Kaduna State Ministry of Health.
The information gathered from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria also reveals that Saidu was neither admitted nor graduated from the University and was not registered with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
During the court proceedings at the Chief Magistrate Court 16 Ibrahim Taiwo Road, the FIR was read to the defendant (Saidu Ahmed Ya’u) who stated that all offenses against him in the report are false.
The Dir. Public Prosecution requested for a date for further mention to be granted to provide time to conclude investigations on the matter since investigations are still ongoing.
The counsel to the defendant also requested that a bail be granted to his client to report back on the day of mention in court.
The DPP opposed the application for bail stating that the accused has weighty allegations against him and according to Section 174 of Kaduna State Administration of Criminal Justice Law 2017, the criteria of exceptional circumstances for admitting persons alleged to have committed such offenses to bail, have not been displayed before the court and therefore urged the court to refuse the application on that ground.
The Judge then ruled that for the purpose of clarity of record and for the court to have all the reports of investigation carried out on this case, the defendant shall be kept in Kaduna Correctional Service, Ibrahim Taiwo Road until further mention on 16 of March 2020.
